Hyderabad: Protesting the delay in
announcing the Terms of Reference of the Sri Krishna
committee on Telangana issue, a group of ruling Congress
leaders from the region on Tuesday favoured staying away from the
coming assembly session.
"The Speaker has rejected our resignations. So, we
thought that we should at least stay away from the session so
that it would become difficult to hold the session," Narsa
Reddy, a Congress MLA, told reporters.
T Jeevan Reddy, a former minister and senior Congress
leader, also supported the idea.
However, Congress Rajya Sabha member K Keshav Rao felt
it was not proper to stay away from the session.
"This is immaturity. The Terms of Reference (TOR) would
be announced shortly. Taking a decision like this before its
announcement is not correct," he said.
The Centre had on February three announced a committee,
under the chairmanship of former Supreme Court judge B N Sri
Krishna, to go into the Telangana issue. But its terms of
reference are yet to be announced.
The Congress legislators from Telangana and
non-Telangana regions had submitted their resignations on the
issue of division of Andhra Pradesh. The resignations, except
one, were rejected by the Speaker on the ground that they were
'not in proper format'.

New Delhi: Overnight showers brought winter
chill back to the city today but minimum temperature rose to
15 degrees Celsius, highest in the last five years in
February, primarily because of the cloud cover.
However, the mercury did not peak to unpleasant levels as
the maximum was recorded at 23 degrees Celsius, which is
normal for this time of the year.
As the rain gauges measured 14.8 mm till 8:30 am,
Delhiites woke upto a breezy day. The rainfall was also the
highest during the month of February in the past three years.
"The minimum temperature rose mainly because of the cloud
cover over the city," said a Met official, adding today's
minimum was six degrees above normal.
The previous highest minimum temperature for the month of
February was 14 degrees Celsius which was recorded in 2005.
On Sunday, the maximum had touched 30.1 degrees Celsius,
which was seven degrees above normal, and one of the hottest
days in February.
The Weatherman has predicted a misty morning for tomorrow
with a clear sky later in the day with temperature oscillating
between 10 and 24 degrees Celsius.
