Hyderabad: Congress MLAs from non-Telangana regions today extended support to tomorrow's bandh called by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed to spearhead the campaign for united Andhra Pradesh.

The party MLAs and MLCs today held a meeting here to discuss the current crisis in the state and the January five meeting convened by the Centre with eight recognised parties from the state.

The legislators have decided to meet on January 10 to discuss the outcome of the January five meeting, Government Whip and senior Congress MLA S Sailajanath told reporters.

Meanwhile, TDP leaders from the coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions also had a meeting at the party office here to discuss the issue.

Senior TDP leader K Yerran Naidu today said the separate Telangana demand is being raised only by those who are politically unemployed and have vested interests.

He said TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao himself opposed various Government Orders issued for the benefit of Telangana when he was in Telugu Desam.

V.Ananda Murti - Visakhapatnam
The agitators for a separate Telangana state have never substantiated their demand for a separate state on rational grounds except vaugely alleging that they did not get a fair deal in the present dispensation. They repeatedlyclaimed that their demand is basesd on `sentiment. If the argument of `sentiment` is accepted and states are dismembered, demands for secession will soon follow and India will no longer be a federal Republic but a conglomeration of feuding principalities. Baseless and irrational demands for dismembering states should therefore be regarded as treason and action taken accordingly.
