Bhubaneswar: The Orissa CPI-M on Tuesday accused the Congress of adopting "narrow political strategy" in fight against Maoists.

"The Congress-led UPA government at the Centre is not helping non-Congress state governments in anti-Maoist operations," state party unit secretary Janardan Pati told a press conference here.

His remarks came in reply to a question on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's repeated claims that the state is not getting enough central forces for anti-Maoist operation.

Referring to West Bengal, Pati said though many people were in Naxal violence in the state, Centre failed to provide enough para-military force there to tackle the menace.

"They withdrew forces from West Bengal under the pretext of elections in Jharkhand. The forces did not return after the elections," he said.

Pati also criticised Congress over the Telangana issue, saying Centre first announced formation of a new state and later decided to form a committee to verify its requirement.
