Raipur: Chhattisgarh's Agriculture Minister Chandrasekhar Sahu should be sacked for his alleged links with Maoists, the Congress party demanded Thursday.

"Congress is firm on its demand to initiate legal action against Sahu for having Maoist links. He must be sacked and a high-level probe should be ordered into the matter," Congress state general secretary Ramesh Varlyani told IANS.

He said a delegation of Congress led by state president Dhanendra Sahu met Governor Shekhar Dutt Wednesday and submitted a memorandum, urging him to ensure that the minister's alleged Maoist links were probed.

"We will not give up till the minister is sacked and punished," Varlyani added.

Sahu's book, "Akaal Avam Chhattisgarh: Yathaarth Aur Sambhavna", has been dubbed 'Naxal literature' by the Congress.

Chief Minister Raman Singh rejected the Congress demand for sacking the minister, saying the "the charges against Sahu are politically motivated".
