Ranchi: Jharkhand government Tuesday announced a probe into overloading of trucks and the role of mobile inspectors in monitoring rules.

"We admit there is overloading. There will be a probe into it," Deputy Chief Minister, Raghuvar Das informed the state assembly and promised to book the mobile inspectors if found guilty.

Das' reply followed opposition allegation that mobile inspectors indulged in malpractice in allowing overload on six-wheelers and ten-wheelers well above the required load of ten tonne and 25 tonne respectively.

To another corruption charge raised by BJP MLA Bimala Pradhan, Deputy Chief Minister, Sudesh Mahto, who also holds the sports portfolio, said that he would look into the problems of the half-built Astro Turf Hockey Stadium in Simdega.

There were complaints against some engineers in connection with misappropriation of funds.

The proposal for a stadium, he said, was taken up in 2001/02 by the sports department and that the probe would cover how the welfare department got involved in it.

Pradhan alleged that the half-built stadium had become the village market, wasting a huge fund meant for a project.
