New Delhi: The CPI(M) today condemned the "ghastly" killing of its tribal leader Ananda Masihoro by Maoists in Orissa's Sundargarh district and asked the Centre
to deploy adequate security forces in the border areas of the Naxal-affected states.
The killing of Masihoro and the violence against the poor tribals in the area by the Maoists once again shows the bankrupt politics of the Maoists, who target CPI(M) leaders, the CPI(M) Politburo said in a statement here.
Strongly condemning the ghastly killing, the party demanded that the Centre deploy adequate security forces in the border areas of the affected states in coordination with
the state governments.
Earlier, Maoists had killed Rabi Oram another tribal leader who was the branch secretary of the CPI(M), the statement said.
Since villagers under the leadership of the CPI(M) put up a resistance to the Maoists in the area, they burnt two party offices and looted the houses of villagers and attacked them
injuring five, it added.
Masiharo (35) was kidnapped by Maoists on Friday night from his house at Roxy village in K Balang area. His body was found last night inside Saranda forest.
