Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir unit of CPI(M) on Tuesday sought adequate compensation to farmers, whose lands have been acquired for 330 MW Kishan Ganga Power Project near the LoC in Bandipora district.

"The government should ensure adequate compensation to the farmers whose land has been acquired for construction of the prestigious power project and also major share of jobs (at the project) to local educated youth," party state secretary M Y Tarigami said in a statement here.

The project is coming up in the picturesque Gurez valley near the Line of Control across Kishen Ganga river in Bandipora district of North Kashmir.
