Hooghly (WB): Police fired in the air to
ward off clashing groups of CPI(M) and Trinamool Congress
workers after indiscriminate bomb blasts and gunfire left six
Trinamool activists and a constable injured at a village in
Hooghly district on Monday.
"The police resorted to blank fire after constable
Chittaranjan Das suffered gunshot injuries with the two
groups clashing with bombs and firearms," said officer

The trouble started after some armed men, stated to be

at Ishanpara, Katapukur and other adjacent villages with bombs
and firearms.
Six Trinamool activists were injured in the attack, the
police said adding that constable Chittaranjan Das was
injured in the leg when a police team rushed in to disperse
the clashing groups.

was on to identify the attackers.
