Aurangabad: Three armed dacoits on Sunday
afternoon looted a goldsmith's shop, assaulted the owner,
tied up the servant and decamped with 1.5 kilograms of gold
and cash Rs 20,000.
The incident has panicked the citizens since the
dacoity took place despite there was police presence all
around the locality for the two-day state-level conference of
the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) here.
The Police Commissioner Srikant Sawarkar said that
around 12:45 today, three dacoits armed with revolver and
knives entered the Bora Jewellers shop in Vivekananad Nagar
near Pundliknagar area in Cidco N-4 building under the pretext
of purchasing gold. One of them took out the revolver and
threatened the owner. The other assailant tied up the hands of
the servant in the shop with his (the servant's) shirt.
Then, they collected gold ornaments weighing 1.5 kgs
and fled the scene. Police said that there were no customers
in the shop when the dacoity took place as it was after noon
time.
Mukundwadi police has registered a case and PI Shamrao
Gaikwad and his team is on hunt for the dacoits. Sources said
that the trio came on a red colour two-wheeler.
