New Delhi: A Delhi court on Monday granted bail to Vivek Singh, son of a BSP leader, who allegedly opened fire in a south Delhi bar following a verbal duel.

Additional Sessions Judge S K Sarvaria allowed the bail application of Singh and asked him to furnish a personal and a surety bond of Rs 30,000 each as pre-condition of his release.

Senior advocate Ramesh Gupta, appearing for the accused, submitted the probe in the case was over and confining Singh in jail would serve no purpose.

Earlier, police, which booked Singh under various provisions of the IPC and the Arms Act, dealing with attempt to murder and use of firearm, had not sought his custody after he surrendered his licensed pistol allegedly used in the offence.

Singh, son of BSP leader from UP Chandraveer Singh, was arrested on December 24 for allegedly firing from his pistol following an altercation with the staff of Mocha resto-bar in Nehru Place.

The accused had purportedly gone to the bar to recover a handbag of his sister which was lost the night before when they were dining there.

He allegedly fled the spot after the firing incident but surrendered later.
