Jammu: An all-party forum on Monday asked Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to introduce a bill in the assembly to create a hill development council for Chinab valley.

Chinab valley covers the mountainous belt of Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban and part of Reasi district through which river Chinab flows and enters Pakistan.

"We urge Chief Minister and legislators of Chinab valley to introduce a bill in the assembly, so that hill development council is granted to the belt," chief patron of All Party Action Committee for Chinab valley (APACCV), Sheikh Abdulah Rehman, told reporters here.

The forum also has decided to hold public rallies in support of its demand.

"Grant of hill development council to Chinab valley will end discrimination and backwardness of the region and fulfil long-pending demand of the people of the belt," he said.

The entire belt is similar to Leh and Kargil districts in terms of backwardness and both the districts have been granted hill development councils for fast development, he said.

"We want same type of treatment with Chinab valley spread across three districts," he said.
