Amritsar: BJP's local MP Navjot Singh Sidhu today lodged a complaint against the Deputy Commissioner Kahan Singh Pannu with the the Lok Sabha Secretary General, accusing him of humiliating him and creating obstacles in performance of his duties as a Parliamentarian.

In a letter to Lok Sabha Secretary General, the former cricketer said he wanted to give a notice of question of privilege against the official and cited instances which, he said, clearly indicate the malafide intent of the Deputy Commissioner in "humiliating me and causing impediments in performance of my duties towards my constituents".

Alleging that the Amritsar DC had insulted him by not inviting him to the function held in the city to welcome the Canadian Prime Minister, the MP said the official had thus denied him an opportunity to submit a memorandum to the visiting premier detailing problems of people of his constituency whose relatives stay in Canada.

"As an elected representative of the people it is in fact one of my primary or rather fundamental duty to put forth and also seek redressal of all the grievances of my constituents at all possible fora", he said.

"The most humiliating part has been that I was not allowed to enter Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) along with the Canadian PM," he said.

He also complained of how he was denied an opportunity at the behest of the local administration to address the gathering and a chair on the dais at a series of public functions held in the city recently.
