Chennai: A Dutch national, arrested on
charges of uploading material on child sexual abuse on the
Internet, was today remanded to judicial custody for 15 days
by a court here.
The bail plea of William Heum will come up for hearing
before a magistrate court tomorrow.
The public prosecutor said William had confessed to
the crime but later denied doing so.
"I have not confessed to anything," William told
reporters outside the court.
William, who has been staying in India for the past 30
years, was arrested on November 7 from a house at Choolaimedu
here, following an Interpol alert that he was uploading child
pornographic content on the Internet.
A computer hard disc, laptop and other accessories
were recovered from William, who was charged under different
sections of the IT (Amendment Act) 2008.
William had told investigators that he was a social
worker.
