Banka: Eight persons were killed and 25
others injured when a bus in which they were travelling in
smashed into a roadside tree near Ghatour village in Bihar's
Banka district today, police sources said.
The accident occurred at around 7 am when the driver of
the vehicle on its way to Deoghar in Jharkhand from Bhagalpur
in Bihar lost control over it, sources said.
The ill-fated bus smashed into a roadside tree and
overturned, they said adding while five passengers died on the
spot, three others succumbed to their injuries on way to
hospital.
Of the injured admitted to hospitals, condition of five
of them was stated to be serious.
Raising the issue, Leader of Opposition in Delhi
Assembly V K Malhotra said the DTC buses have become "live
bombs" in the past 15 days with six incidents of fire onboard
the buses.
Several BJP leaders vociferously criticised the
government for the incidents and even alleged huge corruption
in procurement of the new fleet.
Unhappy with the reply of Lovely, the Opposition
staged a walkout.
