Bankura (WB): An encounter broke out between
Maoists and the joint security forces on Sunday after the ultras
detonated two landmines and tried to prevent the forces from
resetting a camp in Bhalukchera in the district.
Maoists exploded two landmines at around 12 noon to scare
away the joint forces who were setting up the camp after it
was dismantled earlier, Bankura Superintendent of Police
Vishal Garg said.
The security forces retaliated and the encounter lasted
till 4 pm, he said, adding there was no immediate report of
any casualty.
The ultras, however, fled into the Bhalukchera jungle,
Garg said.
The attack comes on the eve of the 48-hour bandh called
by the Maoists in Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, West Bengal,
Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and three districts of
