Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Saturday directed the collectors of Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore, Prakasam, Chittoor and Kadapa districts to take necessary precautionary measures in view of heavy rains and ensure safety of people.
Rosaiah, who was camping in New Delhi, reviewed the situation over phone with the Disaster Management Commissioner S Balasubrahmanyam here and directed that the official machinery in the rain-hit districts be kept on a vigil.
“Prevent breaches to canals and roads and also loss of property and lives,” the Chief Minister directed the officials.
The Disaster Management Commissioner informed the Chief Minister that two breaches have occurred on the Kota-Sullurpet road and Dagadarthi-Butchireddypalem road in SPS Nellore district. One cause-way was washed away in Jaladanki mandal where 22-cm of rainfall was recorded yesterday.
The Chief Minister then asked the district Collector to restore communications immediately.
Heavy rainfall was recorded in 46 mandals in SPS Nellore district while good rain was received in 39 mandals in Prakasam, 47 in Chittoor and 23 in Kadapa districts, according
to a press release from the Chief Minister’s Office.
