Sagar: Kamla Bua, an eunuch, has been
elected as the Mayor of Sagar Municipal Corporation in the
recently concluded elections in the backward Bundelkhand
region of Madhya Pradesh.
Kamla won the election as an independent candidate by
defeating the ruling BJP candidate by a margin of 43,433
votes.
With this, Kamla has become second eunuch mayor in the
history of Madhya Pradesh. Ten years ago, her namesake Kamla
Jaan was elected Mayor of Katni.
Kamla secured 64,683 votes while her nearest rival Suman
Ahirwar of BJP got 21,250 votes. Rekha Choudhary (Congress)
was at third place. She even lost her deposit.
