Ex-minister's brother injured in firing over property dispute

Banaskantha (Guj): A 60-year-old man was shot at in Savinyana village here following a property dispute with his brother who was a former minister in the state, police said on Tuesday.

The injured, identified as Gopal Patel, was shot at last night and was admitted to a local Hospital at Deesa, they said.

Gopal had a dispute over family land with his brother Bhola Patel, a former Panchayat Minister in Chimanbhai Patel's ministry in early 90s.

According to the police complaint filed by Gopal's son Mukund, 17 persons including his uncle, aunty Shantaben, their son Kaushik, son-in-law Ashok Patel and others had come in three jeeps with lethal weapons and assaulted his father.

One unidentified person opened fire from his country made gun that hit Patel on the back of the head, the complaint stated.
