New Delhi: Fire fighters on Sunday continued the cooling-off exercise in a south Delhi container depot, one of the biggest such facilities in Asia, where a massive fire destroyed 24 of the 25 warehouses that store goods worth crores of rupees meant for exports.

Fire was simmering at the depot in Tuglaqabad and fire fighters conducted cooling-off exercise, fire brigade officials said, adding authorities also began the removal of waste from the depot.

Meanwhile, police began its investigations by registering a case of negligence against unknown persons.

The blaze started at around 5 am yesterday and 32 fire tenders were rushed, which took around five hours to douse the flames.

The Delhi Exporters Association has claimed 90 per cent of the material was gutted and the damages were to the tune of Rs 100 crore.

The association president S P Aggarwal demanded adequate compensation for the losses and said they should be given loan at zero per cent interest by the government to revive their business.

The Inland Container Depot (ICD), as it is officially known, is spread over 60 hectares.
