Ahmedabad: Five more deaths due to swine
flu have been reported from Gujarat in the last 48 hours,
taking the toll to 285 there, health officials said Sunday.
Nine new cases of H1N1 infection have been reported
from different parts of the state, they said.
One Dipika Solanki (25) died at the Surat Civil
Hospital today, while Rita Chavda (30) in Rajkot and Chiman
Vankar (30) in the city succumbed to the infection, officials
said.
Two other deaths that had occurred last month were
reported today, they added.
With this the number of swine flu deaths in the state
have risen to 285, including nine from Rajasthan and one from
Madhya Pradesh, who were brought here for treatment but could
not be saved as their condition was critical.
Moreover, new cases were reported from Ahmedabad,
Vadodara, Jamnagar, Amreli, and Junagadh districts.
So far, 1,444 people have tested positive for the H1N1
virus in the state.
