Hyderabad: A 15-year-old girl, who was
battling for life for the last four days after being allegedly
set ablaze by three youths after she resisted a rape attempt,
breathed her last Sunday, police said.
The girl, who was undergoing treatment at Gandhi
Government Hospital, after sustaining 60 per cent burn
injuries in the incident, died at about 11.30 am today,
Malkajgiri Assistant Commissioner of Police P V Padmaja said.
However, the three accused were "still at large" and
the police officer said special police teams were formed to
nab the three youths and investigation was on.
The girl, a resident of Padmarao Nagar here, was
allegedly confined at a room in Kushaiguda locality on the
city outskirts by the three youngsters, who tied her with a
rope, they said.
The trio tried to "sexually assault" her on Wednesday
last and when she resisted their attempts and told them that
she would rather end her life, they allegedly doused her with
kerosene and set her to fire. Later, they fled from the scene
while locals shifted her to hospital.
Police investigations revealed that the three youths
had befriended with the girl and had also taken her to
Vijayawada on March 11 and after staying with them for three
days she was brought back to Hyderabad and confined in
Kushaiguda.
After the girl went missing her parents had lodged a
complaint with Chilkalguda Police.
