Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) is likely to send a team to Jammu and Kashmir to further investigate the links of suspected Hizbul Mujahideen militant Bashir Ahmed Baba arrested last week, police sources said here today.

ATS is also coordinating with their counterparts in J&K to get more information about one Gulam Rasul, also from Srinagar whom Bashir had met during his stay in Ahmedabad and Anand, they said.

According to official sources, Bashir had come to Anand on an invitation from Rasul.

They said police are trying to find out what transpired between the two and what were their links with other terror organisations.

Meanwhile, Bashir was taken to some of the places he had visited during his stay in Gujarat from February 20.

Bashir, who has a case registered under Explosive Act against him in his home state, was arrested by ATS on Saturday last from near Samarkha village in Anand district.

Bashir had come to Ahmedabad as a representative of Srinagar-based NGO Kimaya Foundation working for children with cleft lip.

They said he had done detailed recee of some places in the city which include Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), railway stations, Kankaria lake, science city, Akshardham temple and malls and cinema houses.
