Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad
(ATS) is likely to send a team to Jammu and Kashmir to further
investigate the links of suspected Hizbul Mujahideen militant
Bashir Ahmed Baba arrested last week, police sources said
here today.
ATS is also coordinating with their counterparts in J&K
to get more information about one Gulam Rasul, also from
Srinagar whom Bashir had met during his stay in Ahmedabad and
Anand, they said.
According to official sources, Bashir had come to Anand
on an invitation from Rasul.
They said police are trying to find out what transpired
between the two and what were their links with other terror
organisations.
Meanwhile, Bashir was taken to some of the places he
had visited during his stay in Gujarat from February 20.
Bashir, who has a case registered under Explosive Act
against him in his home state, was arrested by ATS on Saturday
last from near Samarkha village in Anand district.
Bashir had come to Ahmedabad as a representative of
Srinagar-based NGO Kimaya Foundation working for children with
cleft lip.
They said he had done detailed recee of some places in
the city which include Indian Space Research Organisation
(ISRO), railway stations, Kankaria lake, science city,
Akshardham temple and malls and cinema houses.
