Gurgaon: Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner Rajender Kataria has got threatening phone calls and SMS demanding money from an unidentified caller but the police are yet to take act on his complaint lodged more than a month ago.

Kataria gave a written complaint to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Kulwinder Singh on October 9 when he was on leave but the Gurgaon police have not taken any action on his complaint.

Kataria told PTI that in the complaint, he had reproduced the SMS he got. The SMS reads "Sir please do money transfer to bank DHB to me. When you send it let me know. Thank you." He also mentioned the number- +2347038581935 - from which he had got calls and SMS.

Kataria kept receving three-four SMS and two/three calls which were made at late night hours or early morning.

When agency spoke to the number +2347038581935, the caller identified himself as Michael and claimed to know Kataria. Asked why he demaned money, he disconnected the call.

Asked to comment on the DC’s complaint, Gurgaon Police Commissioner S S Deswal said he is not aware of any such complaint.

As the DC is an senior officer, the police cannot afford to take it lightly, added Deswal.

However, Kulwinder Singh said he had got a complaint around two months back from the DC. But as the DC did not follow-up his complaint, the police did not take any action on it, Singh added.

Kataria said he had once rebuked the caller late October and did not receive any calls or SMS since then and that was why he did not pursue his complaint with the DCP (HQ).
