Sheoron was arrested by the Haryana Police today in connection
with alleged involvement of STF members in an extortion and
dacoity racket.
Sheoron, an Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP),
was arrested in Panipat city, SP (Panipat) Rajinder Singh told
PTI here by telephone.
"He was arrested on the basis of the statement of
the accused and the details available from his mobile phone,"
he said.
The arrest was effected under various sections of the
IPC including 395, 397 and 398 (pertaining to dacoity) and
Section 120-B (conspiracy) and the some sections of the Arms

He said a court today remanded to police custody till
March 20 the seven STF personnel arrested in connection with
the alleged racket last night.
The accused had refused to undergo an identification
parade, he said.
The seven, including two Assistant Sub-Inspectors,
were arrested following a complaint by a stock broker that
they had robbed him of Rs six lakh after tying him in his
office.
A jeweller in Panipat also complained to police that
the seven STF personnel tried to extort Rs 10 lakh from him
posing as vigilance team members from Chandigarh.
However, their act was caught on the CCTV camera at
the jeweller's shop. Sheoran had initially denied his
involvement in the crime.
The 15-member STF had been directed to remain
"non-operational" pending an inquiry into the complaints.
