Kohima: Coinciding with Nagaland statehood day, the week-long annual Hornbill festival gets off to a colourful start at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, near here, tomorrow.

The extravaganza will have cultural troupes from Myanmar, Thailand, Korea and Japan besides north eastern states.

Officials of state tourism department, the nodal agency for organizing the annual event, said diplomats from a few south-east Asian countries would also participate.

The festival, organized every year in first week of December as a tourism promotional activity, showcases Naga life and culture at the idyllic Kisama village, 12 km south of this capital town.

Kohima Chambers of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) is organizing a 'night carnival' in the main shopping area of the town to give a taste of a night life because the capital town generally becomes deserted after dusk.

Special arrangements are being made by tour operators to ease the movement of visitors during the festival which will be formally inaugurated by the Governor Nikhil Kumar.
