Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has alleged that insurgent camps continued to remain intact in neighbouring Bangladesh and needed to be demolished.

"Insurgent infrastructure continued to be intact in Bangladesh and insurgents and their leaders having permanent bases there have not been nabbed despite red corner notices against them," Sarkar told the conference of Chief Ministers on Internal Security in Delhi yesterday.

Strengthening of the Indo-Bangla border was necessary because it encompassed the regional security of the entire North-East, he said according to a copy of his speech available here.

Flood lighting along the 856 km porous border and construction of an additional 37 border outposts to reduce the gap between two to 3 to 4 km and construction of more border roads were needed to check infiltration by insurgents, he said.
