Coimbatore: A Joint Action Committee was
formed today for executing and monitoring all activities
related to discharge of treated dye effluent from
Common Effluent Treatment Plants, in Tirupur.
Sub-Committees like Monitoring Committee, Technical
Committee, Legal Committee and Finance Committee were also
formed at a meeting, presided over by A Shaktivel, president,
Tirupur Exporters' Association (TEA), there.
The 15 members of the committees were drawn from Common
Effluent treatment Plants (CETP), Individual Effluent
Treatment Plant (IETP), TEA, South India Hosiery
Manufacturers’ Association (SIHMA) Knit Cloth Manufactures?
Association (KNITcMA), Tirupur Export Knit Printers
Association, (TEKPA) & Tirupur Industrial Federation (TIF), a
TEA release said today.
JAC, headed by Sakthivel, was formed with an objective to
take care of the improvement and welfare of Tirupur knitwear
industry totally and particularly Processing and Dyeing units.
The committee will deal with all issues related to Processing,
CETPs, IETPs and discharge of dye effluent and advise the
sub-committees in all issues.
It would also deal with both Central and State Governments
and suggest and support for distribution of the Central and
State Government grants of Rs.200 crore and Rs.120 crore
respectively.
