Thiruvananthapuram: Janata Dal MLA M V Shreyams Kumar today refuted the charges that he was behind a conspiracy of accusing the family of CPI-M legislator P K Krishna Prasad of holding excess land in Wayanad District.

"The contention of Prasad that I was behind the propaganda that the CPI-M MLA's brother was in possession of excess land is totally baseless," Kumar said in a statement here.

On the contrary, it was evident from the Taluk Land Board documents that Krishna Prasad's brother had in possession excess land to the extent of 17.39 acres and it was bound to be vested with the government, Kumar said.

"It is not my culture to conspire against anybody let alone Prasad. It is difficult to know as to why Prasad is making charges against me while there are documents that speak the truth", Kumar said.

Both Kumar and Prasad are MLAs from Wayanad district representing Kalpetta and Sulthan Bathery segments respectively. Of late, CPI-M and UDF, to which JD belongs, have been at loggerheads in the area over the issue of holding excess land.
