Agartala: The ruling Left Front in Tripura
would field Jharna Paul, the chairperson of the State Social
Welfare Board, as their candidate for the Rajya Sabha
elections, party sources said on Saturday.
Paul had relinquished the post of chairperson of the
board yesterday and told reporters that she would file her
nomination for Rajya Sabha on March 15.
Paul is also the state committee member of the
Ganatantrik Nari Samity, the women wing of CPI-M.
In the sixty-member Tripura Assembly, the strength of the
Left Front is 49.
There is only one seat for Rajya Sabha from Tripura.
