Liberhan debate opens, Left accuses BJP Zeenews Bureau

New Delhi: The debate on the Liberhan Commission report and the Action Taken Report (ATR) began in Parliament on Monday, with CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta accusing the BJP of meticulously planning the demolition of Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992.

Dasgupta, who opened the debate in Lok Sabha, said he was ashamed to say the mosque was brought down after meticulous planning. The CPI leader said the then ruling Congress government at the Centre had failed to do its job of protecting the monument.

The notice for discussion on the commission report and the ATR has was given by Dasgupta and CPI(M) leader Basudeb Acharia.

The discussion is being held under Rule 193 and does not entail voting.

BJP president Rajnath Singh and the deputy leader in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj will present their party's view on the commission report.

Several leaders of the BJP, including former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Leader of Opposition LK Advani, have been indicted by the Liberhan Commission report that probed the Babri Masjid demolition.

The discussion was originally slated for December 1 but was postponed after the Samajwadi Party insisted that copies of report should be made available in Hindi also.

The Rajya Sabha is scheduled to take up discussion on the report December 9 and 10.

Largest Democracy of the world is debating the shameful act of Babri Masjid demolition. World is also watching for the result of this debate and whether responsible people (culprits) will ever be punished and law of land will prevail and Constitution of India will be respected. I wish justice will prevail by punishing the guilty and that will be good for prosperous future of India and protect it from terrorism otherwise wrong signal will go if justice fails.

Nothing is going to change in India.. India will continue to suffer due to communal voilence and subsequent terrro attacks... If an only if, Indian govt becomes very strong in principles and stops pleasing Hinuds or Muslims and re-establishes its base on justice and secular reasoning, then there is hope of India becoming self sufficient in all ways...Attackers of Mumbia blasts have been sentenced but the terrorists who killed innocent children and women in 92 (Mumbai) and 2002(Godhra) are yet to be punished... This injustice will further lead to terrorism and terrrorism.... India govt needs to provide justice and treat Muslims as its own citizens.... ajaztam@hotmail.com
