Bhagalpur: The Bihar government has
decided to waive loan up to rs five lakh taken by weavers for
their financial uplift, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said
on Saturday.
"The state government is keen to better the life of
weavers and make facilities available for promoting their
business," Kumar said while inaugurating a shed for weavers at
Rampurdobh Dariapur under Shahpur block in the district.
He said to free them from debt the state government
had decided to waive the loan availed by them upto Rs five
lakh.
A special team has been constituted for monitoring
implementation of the scheme, he said.
Besides, steps were also being taken for providing
fresh loans to them at an interest rate of as low as five per
cent, he said.
