Mumbai: A state executive meeting of the
Maharashtra BJP will be held in the first week of April to
appoint a party president after Nitin Gadkari was elevated as
national president December last year, party sources said
on Wednesday.
BJP MLA from Chandrapur Sudhir Mungantiwar, party MLC and
General secretary Vinod Tawde, Nagpur MLA Devendra Phadanvis
and leader of opposition in the state assembly Eknath Khadse,
who hails from North Maharashtra are in the race to succeed
Gadkari as the state unit president, the sources said.
The dates and venue of the meeting will be finalised in a
few days but party officials were contemplating on holding the
two-day meet at Jalgaon, Dhule or Nandurbar.
Gadkari is likely to attend either the inauguration or
valedictory session, the sources said, adding Deputy Leader of
BJP in the Lok Sabha Gopinath Munde will also participate in
the two day deliberations.
