Mumbai: Maharashtra Government would recommend the Centre to felicitate master blaster Sachin Tendulkar for becoming the first player to score a double century in one day internationals.

"Considering the record by Sachin Tendulkar, we would recommend the Centre to felicitate him," Minority Welfare Minister Naseem Khan informed the Legislative Council today.

Congress MLC Sanjay Dutt demanded that Sachin be felicitated by the Centre.

Tendulkar scored an unbeaten 200 off 147 balls in the second ODI against South Africa at Gwalior on February 24.

Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) has already decided to honour the 37-year-old legend, who was born in the city, following a demand from corporators.
