Lucknow: A two-and-a-half year old man-eater
tiger, which killed five persons before being caught by forest
officials in Kishenpur sanctuary, has been diagnosed with
cancer at a zoo here, an official said here today.
"The tiger, Kishen, has been diagnosed with 'Haemangio
Sarcoma'- a cancer of blood vessels," Director of Lucknow Zoo
Renu Singh said.
Singh said that the disease has forced the big cat into
aberrant behaviour and it will undergo a treatment after zoo
authorities seek an advice from the Indian Veterinary Research
Institute (IVRI).
The predator was named Kishen as it was brought from
Kishenpur sanctuary in March.
Last week, two new-born cubs of Royal Bengal Tiger had
died in the Zoo, officials said.
