Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati alleged that her political rivals tried to disrupt her mega rally Monday using bees.
Mayawati’s rally, held on the birth anniversary of BSP founder Kanshiram, was organized to mark 25 years of the party’s foundation.
The UP Chief Minister said that ‘rapidly moving’ bees tried to attack her while she was addressing the rally.
A BSP press statement later added: "Today when Mayawati was addressing a rally at the Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan, someone set fire to some bushes in a nearby compound of the Kendriya Vidyalaya and that set alight the bees from the beehive.”
“These bees then moved rapidly towards the stage and wandered around the Chief Minister for at least an hour. After which they formed a beehive on top of the stage. Without fear, the CM went ahead with her speech so that the rally doesn't get disrupted,” it added.
An enquiry has since been ordered into the ‘bee-conspiracy’.
However, the show stealer during the rally was the giant garland made of hundreds of Rs. 1000 notes that was gifted to her by party workers on the occasion.
"I thank you for your contributions and the money you have given me,” Maya said.
But the opposition is livid over the open display of money power and is demanding a CBI probe into the money spent on the rally, which as per them cost Rs 200-crore.
