New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will launch a week-long sanitation-cum-cleanliness drive from Monday to control mosquito breeding and spread of dengue in the national capital.

"The drive is aimed at controlling breeding of Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes responsible for spread of dengue," Municipal Commissioner K S Mehra said in a release today.

All the departments of the civic body have been directed to participate effectively in the drive to ensure the sanitation and cleanliness in the city, it said.

Mehra also appealed to residents welfare associations, market associations, parents-teachers associations and social welfare groups to participate in the drive and help in controlling the spread of dengue by identifying and destroying mosquito breedings places.

if the mcd staff work honestly throughout the year in all the localities then this problem would not have arisen. now the world would know how dirty is the management of our country in respect of sanitation.the mcd sweepers do not cooperate with some people who like cleanliness around their house. we can see piles of garbage and water logging every where .people do not pay money (rs.40 to 60) to the private sweeper to collect garbage from their house instead throw in the roadside or throw garbage in the empty plots with without boundry in the locality.then instead of taking action against them action is taken against the owner of the plot.
