Hyderabad: City police on Tuesday arrested the
Managing Director of the hospital, where a fire broke out
earlier this month here.
Panjagutta police arrested Managing Director of Park
Super-speciality Hospital, C Damodar Reddy in connection with
the fire that broke out on February one, claiming three lives.
Reddy was produced before a local court for judicial
remand, but, was released on bail, a police officer said.
He was booked for offences under Sections 304A (causing
death by negligence) 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life
or personal safety of others), 336 (endangering life or
personal safety of others) of IPC, he said.
A major fire broke out in the five-storeyed 'Park
Super-speciality Hospital' in Somajiguda here, claiming the
lives of an elderly patient and two nurses reportedly due to
asphyxiation, and injured eight others who jumped after flames
engulfed the building.
The Fire Department personnel observed that no fire
safety measures were adopted in the building.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation also sealed
the "unauthorised" fifth-floor and directed the owner/occupier
not to use the premises till unauthorised and deviated
portions were removed and necessary occupancy certificate is
obtained from the Municipal Commissioner.
