New Delhi: Overnight showers brought winter
chill back to the city today but minimum temperature rose to
15 degrees Celsius, highest in the last five years in
February, primarily because of the cloud cover.
However, the mercury did not peak to unpleasant levels as
the maximum was recorded at 23 degrees Celsius, which is
normal for this time of the year.
As the rain gauges measured 14.8 mm till 8:30 am,
Delhiites woke upto a breezy day. The rainfall was also the
highest during the month of February in the past three years.
"The minimum temperature rose mainly because of the cloud
cover over the city," said a Met official, adding today's
minimum was six degrees above normal.
The previous highest minimum temperature for the month of
February was 14 degrees Celsius which was recorded in 2005.
