Gangtok: The traffic police on Thursday briefly seized the vehicles of two ministers after finding them parked in 'No Parking Zone' near Denzong theatre in Lal Bazaar Market here, but later released the vehicles on payment of fine of Rs 500 each.

During the routine checking, the traffic police found the official vehicles of the Information and Public Relations (IPR) Minister Neeru Sewa and the Building and Housing Minister Tilu Gurung parked in the space declared as 'No Parking Zone, police inspector Deepa Sharma said.

The cops seized the two vehicles by locking its tyre with chain and imposed a fine of Rs 500 on each of the vehicle for violation of traffic rules before its release, she said, adding the fine was recovered from the drivers of the two vehicles as the ministers were not in the vehicles at the time of its booking by the traffic cops.

The ministers duo were not not available for their comments on the booking of their vehicles by the traffic police.
