Agartala: Mizoram Chief Minister, Lal Thanhawla was likely to visit camps of Brus from his state sheltered in Tripura during a visit to the Jampui Hills in North district on Wednesday, official sources said on Saturday.

About 35,000 Brus, who migrated to Tripura following ethnic clashes with Mizos since 1997 are now sheltered in the six camps in the foothills of the Jampui.

Following fresh ethnic clashes in Western Mizoram last month over 1000 Brus migrated to Tripura and have taken shelter elsewhere in the Jampui hills.

The chief minister was also scheduled to attend a cultural function at Thangslang village and would return to Mizoram the same day, the sources added.
