Jaipur: To check adulterated food and
essential commodities, mobile testing units would soon be
making rounds in the districts of Rajasthan.
Rajasthan has approved a mobile food and essential
commodities' testing unit for all 33 districts in the state,
Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Babulal Nagar
told reporters Saturday.
Each unit would have latest machines for on-spot checking
and scientific calibration of food, oil, cereals, fuel and
drugs.
"It will be a free inspection and consumers can approach
with a complaint to the mobile unit," he said, adding in
routine food, the report would be made available in a couple
of hours. For major tests, it would be available in a day or
so.
The department has provided Rs 2.25 crore annually for
this operation in every district, he said. The district
administration would be given a limit of Rs 57,000 per month
for the mobile unit, he added.
