Ahmedabad: Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi on Thursday had a dig at UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on price rise saying he would now write a letter in Italian to draw Centre's attention towards the issue.

"I have written number of letters to Central Government on the issue of price rise. I have written letters in the language they can understand urging them to take steps to do something about the rising prices of food items," Modi said.

"But, I think that they have no empathy for the poor people and it seems that they are not willing to take steps to control rising prices," he said, adding, "Now, I need to write a letter in Italian."

Modi was speaking at a Garib Kalyan Mela in Patan district.

"They (Centre) had organised a meeting on the issue of price rise. But have now postponed it saying that they have some other work. I don't understand what work is more important than addressing the issue of price rise," Modi said.

"Keeping poor people hungry in this manner will lead to nemesis of the Central government," Modi said.

Garib Kalyan Mela is brainchild of Modi to provide direct benefit of schemes meant for poor without involving middlemen.

"Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had said that if Central government release one rupee for poor, only 10 paise reaches them. By organising such melas I have tried to solve this problem," Modi said.

PP TALWAR - India
Gujarat CM Narendra Modi who is involved in Gujarat, Godhra massacre, to divert the attention of the people, he is now indulging in cheap gimmicks, by attacking congress President Sonia Gandhi on Price Rise issue, stating that he would be writing to sonia Gandhi in Italian. Being a hypocritical act, it is time Narendra Modi shuns such gimmicks and instead strives to do some good for his state of Gujarat.

For many months now opposition and the common man is speaking time and again on price increase of eateries, but it is all going a deaf ear on congress. It is not that they are helpless, but they are helpful to the traders and hoarders because of their own involvements and the delay to solve the problem will fetch them more money. The congress spokesman in a discussion even said in a loud voice that they have won the elections and would run the country the way they are doing. Now as the problem is further catching up the meetings are postponed and blames are shifted within the upa parties.Let us watch as to for how long the delay is continued.

Modi is a mad cap. Does he think he can fool people of India by these cheap acts `` I will write in Italian``? He has to mature as a politician. So far he has always behaved as a road side agitator, who will catch any thing to attract attention.
