Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, who has been appointed as BJP General Secretary, on Tuesday said he would soon quit ministry to take up the new assignment.

"I will resign as minister in Himachal Pradesh to join as BJP national general secretary to honour party's policy of 'one man one post'," Nadda told reporters here.

Nadda is Parliamentary Affairs, Forest and Environment minister presently in the Prem Kumar Dhumal ministry.

The new BJP general secretary, who had worked with party President Nitin Gadkari in BJP's youth wing in early 90s, said he wishes to concentrate on strengthening party cadre in the country.

Nadda is third time MLA from Bilaspur assembly constituency in HP.

50-year-old Nadda has earlier served as president of All India Bhartiya Janata Yuva morcha.
