Tamluk (WB): West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today expressed apprehension that the proposed petrochemicals project at Nayachar might go the Nandigram way as the Opposition is bent on scuttling it.

"I have the same fear as Nandigram about the Nayachar petrochemicals hub. The Opposition is thwarting the move to set up the Nayachar hub," he alleged.

The Petroleum Chemical and Petroleum Investment project at Nayachar in East Midnapore was cleared by the Centre earlier.

Bhattacharjee accused the Trinamool Congress of not allowing development work in East Midnapore district where a number of industries were planned.

He said many companies have expressed interest to set up factories or plants in East Midnapore district. A private company has expressed interest to set up a ship building factory in the district and there are also plans to set up a nuclear power plant at Haripur in the district.

"But I fear the opposition Trinamool Congress would not allow these plans to materialise," Bhattacharjee said here.

"What does the opposition want?. If they want development of East Midnapore, they should allow industries to be set up in the district. How can there be any development without industries," he asked.

The Chief Minister said that the panchayats controlled by the Trinamool Congress are not allowing the government to prepare the BPL list in East Midnapore whereas in other districts of the state the work for preparing the list is going on smoothly.

The chief minister was shown black flags by a group of people stated to be Trinamool Congress activists at Ram Tarak Bazar, five kms from Tamluk in East Midnapore district, while he was on way to hold a rally after a meeting with district officials and senior police officials at the Kolaghat guest house.

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee said activists of her party were not involved in the showing of black flags.

Trinamool Congress, which was also invited in the meeting between the officials and the Chief Minister, had boycotted the meet.

The CPI-M suffered defeats in the election to the panchayat bodies followed by defeat in the prestigious Tamluk Lok Sabha seat to the Trinamool Congress which is close to Nandigram.

A massive security arrangement had been made in view of the chief minister's visit to the district.

This project may be established as one kind of `kingdom` that will rein occupied teritorry of the state within the country and that will enjoy soverign power where state or country`s constitution will not interfare at all. In the name of `SEZ` multibillionear and so called `NRI` are trying to capture India by hook or crook with the help of vested interested leaders and blackmarketers those whor are also interested to invest their black money. These type of zones one day will make independant state like `Frans occupied Pondicherry` and `Portugal occupied Goa and other small teritorries`. Then man like Sardar Ballavbhai or Tridiv Choowdhury will be needed to free these area.
