Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government today
alleged that despite wiping out Naxalism from Mandla and
Dindori districts and curbing it effectively in Balaghat, the
Centre has stopped the aid to the state for fighting the
menace.
"Instead of rewarding for wiping out Naxalism from
Dindori and Mandla districts and effectively curbing it in
Balaghat, the Centre has stopped the aid given to the state to
fight the menace," Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Uma Shankar
Gupta said in the State Assembly, while replying to a debate
on deteriorating law and order situation.
He said in Balaghat, Naxalism was not just controlled by
the power of gun, but also by carrying out developmental works
and by providing benefits of welfare schemes to the people.
Referring to the CPI(ML) programme in the state capital,
Gupta said that it was not a banned organisation and they have
sought permission to hold a convention as per their democratic
right and the same was given to them.
He said that after receiving reports of raising of some
slogans, vigil around the convention was intensified.
The state home minister assured the House that under no
circumstances terrorism and crime will be allowed to flourish
in the state.
He also blamed the Congress rule(1993-2003) for
sheltering terror elements in the state.
On dacoity problem, Gupta said police have wiped out the
problem from affected areas and not a single large gang is
active in the state at present.
The Home Minister said that the government is dealing
with the problem of shortage of manpower by recruiting 5,500
police personnel and is equipping them with modern weapons and
better facilities.
Earlier, launching an attack on the state government for
deteriorating law and order situation, deputy Leader of the
Congress Legislature Party, Choudhry Rakesh Singh Chaturvedi
said there is a regime of fear in the state, especially in
Indore.
He said innocent tribals were shot dead by the police in
Dindori and it was for the first time in the last 20 years
that such an incident took place in the state.
Arif Aqeel (Congress) said in the name of worshipping
weapons, Chief Minister as well as minors were displaying arms
by openly violating rules and demanded to put a ban on such
practice.
Accusing the government, Ram Niwas Rawat also of the
Congress said the state has surged ahead in the country in
cases of rape and vehicle thefts.
Leaders of Bahujan Samaj Party, Samajwadi Party and
Bhatrtiya Jan Shakti also expressed concern over deteriorating
law and order situation in the state.
