Mumbai: Mumbai Police Commissioner D Sivanandan on Monday categorically rejected reports of a war within the state police cadres.

Addressing the media just three days ahead of the first anniversary of the 26/11 attacks, Sivanandan said the Maharashtra Government is checking on who gave what commands during the terror attacks.

"There is no war within the Mumbai Police. This has to be checked whether anybody said anything during the operations. The government is doing exactly that. We are not responding to anybody's comment as of now," Sivanandan said.

Earlier, in an interview, former city police commissioner Hassan Gafoor allegedly said four IPS officers, Parambir Singh who was the Additional Commissioner with Anti Terror Squad (ATS), K L Prasad then Joint Commissioner (Law and Order), Additional Commisioner (Crime Branch) Deven Bharti, and K Venkateshan, then Additional Commissioner (South), refused to be on ground and take on the terrorists.

Gafoor also alleged there was dearth of eagerness on the part of some senior officers to be on the ground that day. (ANI)
