Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar
today appealed to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram not to
make public statement on tackling the Maoists, saying it would
be counter-productive.
"Maoism is a sensitive issue and any public statement on
tackling the menace will be counter-productive. He
(Chidambaram) and his secretary should not address the issue
through media," Kumar said while addressing the state council
meeting of his party here.
Suggesting a three-pronged strategy, Kumar said steps
should be taken to weed out corruption in government delivery
mechanism and to ensure that the benefits of developmental
schemes reached the poor.
It was also necessary to see to it that the people
regained their faith in democracy, he said.
