Mumbai: Nooriya Haveliwala, arrested for allegedly mowing down two persons including a traffic policeman and injuring four constables, today approached the sessions court seeking bail.

Nooriya (27), a beautician by profession, on January 30 was driving towards her home at Colaba in south Mumbai when she lost control over her Honda CRV vehicle and hit a bike and a police jeep.

The biker, Afzal Maknejia (35) was killed on the spot while Dina Nath Shinde (40), a traffic police ASI, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital the next day.

Nooriya was arrested from the accident spot and has been booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and rash and negligent driving.

Nooriya in her bail plea has stated that there was no intention behind the accident and that her custody was not required any more.

The Sessions Court has directed the prosecution to file their reply by February 16.

Meanwhile, one of the injured constables Shailesh Jadhav has filed an intervening application opposing Nooriya's bail plea stating that it was a serious offence.

Nooriya's medical tests revealed 457 ml acohol content in her blood samples.

Nooriya is presently lodged at the Byculla prison.
