Hyderabad: The body of M Sai Kumar, a student of Osmania University who allegedly ended his life for the Telangana cause, was today taken to his native village in Nalgonda district for last rites.

The second year B-Tech student allegedly hanged himself in his hostel room at the University's campus yesterday, in support for a separate Telangana.

A suicide note, purportedly written by 21-year-old Kumar, said "youth should take up the Telangana movement." He also blamed politicians over the delay in Telangana formation.

"Take out my funeral procession to the AP State Assembly," the note said.

Students, who did not allow a post-mortem to be carried on Kumar's body, held a sit-in at Gandhi hospital premises for over 10 hours yesterday, demanding to take out the body in a procession towards the state Assembly as per his last wish.

The post-mortem was conducted on the body late last night only after intervention by the Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission, which also directed the police to allow the funeral procession to be taken to Gunpark, a memorial of martyrs, in front of the Assembly.

Angered over Kumar's death, activists of Telangana Joint Action Committee held road blockades near Kodad town in Nalgonda district, a senior police officer said, adding the situation is peaceful and the final rites will be conducted later in the day.
