Vadodara: Former Union Minister and president of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Ram Vilas Paswan has questioned motives of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in holding 'Garib Kalyan Melas' across the state.

"For whom the 'Garib Kalyan Melas' are organized," he asked Modi. Garib Kalyan Mela is a government programme meant for welfare of poor in the state.

Addressing presspersons during his brief halt to the city on his way to Bharuch in the state for addressing a Dalit convention there,Paswan demanded Centre to extend reservation benefits to the converted Dalit Christians and Muslims and implementation of recommendations of the Rangnathan Committee report.

Paswan demanded reservation in jobs for members of Sc/St communities and dalits in private sector. Both LJP and Rashtriya Janata Dal party, headed by Lalu Prasad Yadav, will join together and put up candidates in the ensuing assembly polls in Bihar, after six months, to capture power as Bihar has suffered badly under Nitish Kumar-led NDA government, he said.

He said that his party will launch a nation-wide agitation on the issue of price rise of essential commodities.

He criticized Amar Singh for changing his ideology and knocking at the doors of Sonia Gandhi and Mayawati, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, for getting entry into their parties.

Amar Singh quitting Samajwadi party will have no bearing on the future of Samajwadi Party, headed by Mullayam Singh Yadav, he added.

He said, "BJP and Shiv Sena are linked with each other and that is why Shiv Sena does not attack RSS" he said.
